Finally...

Well, the season finally ended last night. The Bats lost to the Durham Bulls and the team is heading back to Ky today. So, Luis is coming home. Though I am bummed that they lost, I am looking forward to relaxing at home and getting caught up on some family time. The season has just flown by. I can't believe that it's been 5 months since the season started. It just went so fast. Now we are going start focusing on next year. Luis is a free agent this year after October. So, we have to pray now that God sends us where he wants us. With whatever team that may be. I think Luis is going to get some really good offers. So, I pray we take the right one. But, I guess the next step is getting prepared for Winter Ball in Venezuela. Ugh, I don't even want to think about that one yet!

Out For Blood...

So, last night was game 1 of the playoffs. And it is obvious at this point that both teams are out for blood. We lost game 1. Tonight is game 2 and I hope we do better tonight than we did last night. Last night, Luis got hit in the head by a pitch and his helmet left a mark on his face. But, thank God it was not bad. Luis was one of 3 hit by pitches. Lets hope tonight isn't so brutal.

We go home tomorrow. The guys go on the road Friday morning to continue the playoffs in Durham. They have a 6:30am flight. Not looking forward to that one. We have been in a hotel since Monday night. It's a really nice hotel. But, if you have kids, you know that they don't really do well for long periods of time in small places. So, we are looking forward to going home. I'm going to miss the games and all though.

Moving On Out

I feel like I am going about 100 different directions right now. Today we are packing up the rest of the apt and moving. I am so not organized when it comes to this. I walk from room to room just doing some here and some there. I get so overwhelmed. And until I actually start going through stuff and throwing things away and packing the rest, I never realize how much stuff we really have. I mean, I know we are a family of 4 and all. But, We really travel with the minimum. So, when it's time to pack up, I am stressed.
We can't get into the team hotel until Monday। So, tonight we will stay with one of the other guys on the team for 1 night until we can get into the hotel. He has been nice enough to let us crash there so we don't have to go to another hotel before we get into the team hotel Monday for the playoffs. So we appreciate that!
I am a little sad that we are leaving this apt today। It has been so nice for the few months that we have been here। We have been really blessed as far as places to stay this season. We started off with some good friends of ours in Chattanooga for the first few weeks. Then we were able to move in with a host family. They were very good to us as well. I don't think that we will be able to ever thank them enough or repay them for their generosity. And then we found this apt in Louisville. It has been great. And I am sad to leave. But, ready to go home and enjoy what free time we will have this off season. Which is not much!

Blog Makeover and Other Random Info

OK, so WOW! I am SO sorry that it has been so long since the last time I wrote. I just got so wrapped up in everything that I totally just let this go. And I hate it that I did that. I really had every intention to do this on a regular basis. So, here I am. Back to it and I am giving my blog a makeover. Hope y'all like it!

OK. so where do I begin. We have been here in AAA since April. It has been a really good season here this year. We have had a few troubling times, but who doesn't?! Everything for the most part has been going pretty smooth. Kammy finished up her work for 1ST grade and next week we will be starting 2ND grade. Luisa starts pre-school also. I can't believe it. They are both growing so fast. We kind of take the home school thing year by year. And we have decided to do it again this year. Luis will probably be leaving for winter ball here in the beginning of October sometime. I think we are going to go a little later. But, we'll get to that later.

One thing that is really heavy on our hearts is that Luis will be a free agent this year, FINALLY! We have spent the last 7 years with the Reds and it is so scary to think that we might be with a different team next year. But, it is also exciting that we could be anywhere having a chance to make the Majors possibly with another team. But, we know that God has taken care of us up until this point. And he will continue to do so. We are excited to see what this off season brings!

There are 3 regular games left in this season. The Bats made the playoffs and won the West Division Title. The playoffs start Sept 3rd and 4Th here in Ky. But, we have to be out of our Apt tomorrow. So, I am packing up the apt tonight and we will leave tomorrow and move into a hotel Monday for the last 4 days we need to be in Ky. So, we will be making 2 moves in the next 2 days. Believe me when I say, I am NOT looking forward to that! Ah, these are the times I like the least about baseball!

On a sad note, I found out in the middle of July that I was expecting baby #3. On July 26Th, I miscarried and had a rough few weeks health wise. But, I have been feeling much better now and we know that everything happens for a reason. Luis and I had to believe that God was saving our baby from something that he wasn't meant to experience. But, if it is meant to be, I know God will give us another one in his time. It was a rough last month. But, our faith has brought us through it.

This has been a season full of learning lessons for us. We look forward to what the off season brings and entering the next chapters in our lives.

Talk to you all again, soon!

Love you all!

Luis Hits 3 Run Homer, Lookouts Win 6-3...

This was a pretty sweet ending to a game last night that started off rough. Luis had been 0-3 I believe. The game was tied 3-3 and Luis hit a 3 run homer and we won 6-3! It was great! I wish I could have seen it. Read about the game HERE if you would like.
Luis will be home late tonight, finally! The Lookouts finish a 5 game series in Huntsville tonight.

Man, This Always Happens To Me.....

This is just my luck. I mean seriously, this happens to me ALL the time. I went out to the truck to get something out of it, and whaddaya know? The battery is dead on the truck! Now, OF COURSE Luis is out of town. He is always out of town when things go wrong. Thank God I have my friends here in Chattanooga that can help me. My friends husband is coming over to jump it later tonight. But, let me just give you some history on my experiences with vehicle situations when Luis just happens to always be out of town.

In 2006, our first year in Chatt, I had driven down in the Grand AM to meet him in TN after Spring Training. He had been on a road trip and wasn't going to get in till that night. Well, when I got to Chatt, I went to the Apt that we were going to be staying in and proceeded to go into the apt and let the girls out to play and all. We had been in the car for about 7 1/2 hrs from the drive from Ohio. Now, the car is packed, and I mean packed. My youngest daughter was only 1 1/2 years old. So, I take the girls inside and I come out and open the passenger side door to find smoke pouring out the side of the car. Now, I thought that I had smelled something burning on the way down, but, it really wasn't strong at that point and nothing was smoking. I had taken the girls inside to chill for a few and came back out probably about an hour later. SO, when I see that there is smoke pouring out, I take the girls back into the apt and go back out to try and figure out where the smoke is coming from. I wasn't sure if the car was going to explode at this point or what. So, I needed to call 911, but I didn't know the address yet cause this was my first day down there. SO, I call the apt office and they called 911 for me. What had happened was I had stuffed a pillow under the dash when I was trying to pack the car and I had hit the lights on in the car too and the pillow had leaned up onto the light and actually caught on fire. So, here I am trying to keep the girls back, take things out of the car and clean the smoke stuff off all by my self. Then carry all that stuff into the apt which was 2 flights down stairs. And you see how much stuff we have, too!

The next thing that happened was that the same season, about a month later, Luis was of course on the road and I was taking the girls to the Children's Discovery Museum in Chatt and I got 2 flat tires. Both on the right side of the car. I had to call AAA to come and help me with that one. Don't ask me how it happened, I still to this day have no clue!

The next thing was a year ago Christmas week. Luis was in Venezuela for winter ball. I was still in the grand am and I was driving home from work when my car runs out of gas. I didn't know it cause my car read 1/2 tank. So , the gage wasn't working right. I walk to get gas and I come back and the car is gone. I only went 5 min to the gas station and 5 min back and they had towed my car. I had left my blinkers on, too. So you know what happened when I went to get the car the next morning...yep! Dead battery! So it cost me $120 to get my car out 1 week before Christmas. And had to call AAA again to jump me. Boy do I love that AAA membership!

I know that Luis doesn't plan to be out when these things happen. He always feels really bad about it too cause he is totally helpless. I seem to always be stuck out somewhere and with the girls. There are more things that I can remember, too. But gees, I'd be here all night! I think this all just makes me a much, much stronger person! I can think of other way to become stronger that would be better than car situations, like the gym! ! LOL

M.I.A....

My friend has brought it to my attention that it has been too long since I last posted on my blog. Sorry its been a week. But, I've just been so tired and busy, it's ridiculous. Now that the season has started up again, I'm kinda on my own for everything again. Kinda like being a single Mom. I never realize how much Luis does to help me until he is gone and I'm on my own again. So, thanks honey for everything you do! I love ya!

So, we made our 3rd move in about 1 and 1/2 months since baseball started back up again. I took some pictures and will post them below of the truck when we packed it this last time. Just so you can see how packed it is. The rule is when we pack is if it doesn't fit in either the large bins or one of the 3 suitcases, then it doesn't go! I seem to be the one that has the most trouble with that rule. I want to take everything that I can possibly squeeze into the truck.

Luis is on the road right now. He is in Huntsville for a 5 game series. Then he is home for 10 days! YEA! I hate it when he is away. We are so used to being together all the time, I miss him when he is gone. The one great thing about being back in Chattanooga is that we have some really good friends here. It's good to be able to see them and spend time with them again. I also feel more comfortable when Luis is out of town in that if there is an emergency, I know I'm not alone. I have help if I need it. That is always one of the tough things about traveling so much and being in different towns, is not knowing anyone. We went to my friends house for lunch Sunday after church. Luis had a day off, which is unusual that it fell on a weekend. We had lunch and then played Wii with their 2 boys. We has so much fun. And it's good exercise. I might just have to invest in one of those things! We had a blast!

Below are the pics of the truck. Isn't Luis a good packer?! ;)

Good game! But, Lookouts loose in the 11th...

AT&T Field Chattanooga, TN

Last night was another great game, but unfortunately the Lookouts lost in the 11TH. Luis had another incredible game. This time going 3 for 6 starting off the night with a double. Until last night, Luis has 7 consecutive hits. The record in the Southern League for consecutive hits is 10. But, he is in the record books for going 6 for 6 on Monday night. And that, Luis said, is an honor!

Today is an 12:15pm game. I love the early games. Then that means that Luis has the evening off and we can have dinner like a reagular family! lol

I'm Speechless!!!!!!!!!! Luis was 6 for 6!

WOW! This was unbelievable! In the game last night, Luis went 6 for 6 in the win against the Montgomery Biscuits. They won 9-4. The 6 for 6 included 2 doubles, 1 Home Run, 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored, and 3 singles! It was awesome to listen to on the Internet. I would have given anything to be there and hear that. The 6 for 6 is talked about today on MILB.com and also Reds.com.
He was on such a high last night it was indescribable. I was talking to him on the phone after the game and he was on the bus and I heard them call him to the front of the bus and they made an announcement that Luis was the 11TH player in Southern League history to have a 6 hit game. That just made it all the more incredible!
Tonight is opening night for the Lookouts in Chattanooga. I can't wait!

Happy Monday!

OK, this picture looks how I feel!!

Luis is coming home tonight! YEA! I miss him when he is gone! He probably wont be home until 2 am or 3 am. They have a game at 8:05 tonight and then they have a 3 hour trip home. So, I'll be sleeping when he gets home. I'm not really feeling well today. I got up to do Kammy's class work and I really feel like going back to bed. But, I know I can't.

Hope everyone has a Happy Monday! lol

BOX Score For 4/5/08

Tonight the Lookouts lost 8-5 against the Montgomery Biscuits. Luis went 2 for 5 with a stolen base. He scored 1 run. Tomorrow is a double header. First game will broadcast at I believe 2:45pm. There will be 2 games of 7 innings each. You can check out the box score from tonight's game HERE.

For The Sake Of Conversation...

So, I read today that Catcher Javier Valentine for the Reds is possibley injured with a strained hamstring. It is also a possibility that he might be on the disabled list very soon and a catcher from AAA might be called up to take his spot while he is out. Which means they will need to call up a catcher from AA to take the sot in AAA. That's how it works, for those who don't know. It's a trickle effect. When something happens in the Big Leagues, then it effects all the levels below. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes someone getting hurt for someone to get their chance to get called up.

Today is kinda a blah day. It's rainy and overcast outside. I got up and fixed the girls chocolate ship pancakes and cereal. Now, I'm just kinda of trying to figure out what I need to next. I feel like I NEED to do something productive, but I don't really WANT to do anything at all! lol But, I think I'm going to do laundry and help my friend with her yard sale. I'm kind of eager to see if Luis will have his game tonight. It has been raining still and the fields are not in the best of shape. I guess we'll see what happens!

Rain Delay!

There are 3 things I hate about baseball; Extra Innings, Rain Delays and game cancellations. Tonight's game was cancelled due to rain. The game will be played in a double header on Sunday. Usually when they play a double header, they play 2 games with 7 innings each. Not the normal 9 innings. I was so disappointed. I was looking forward to listening. I was going to head to bed early. Then I started chatting with my friend and well you all know how that is. Now it is 11pm and of course, I'm still up!

OK, So I just Have To Say...

I just have to tell you about this deal that my friend has helped me discover. Here in Tennessee, my allergies have really started to flair up. I don't usually have a problem with them. Back home in Ohio, Luis had a horrible time with them. But, once we enter into TN, mine start acting up immediately. So, my friend told me about Zyrtec now being sold over the counter, which I didn't know about. Before you had to have a prescription. Normally this box of Zyrtec is $22.99. It is on sale at most stores for $18.99. I bought this one at Walgreens BUT, she gave me a coupon for $4.00 off. This coupon is in the paper. So, instead of paying $22.99 for this, I paid $14.99. And it has done wonders! I have taken 2 and have felt 110% better. If there is anyone that is suffering from allergies, and I know this is the season for it, then you should defiantly take advantage of this.

Last night was the begining of the 2008 season and we won 4-1. Luis was 0 -3 with 1 walk and 1 run scored. He was lead off hitter and played 2nd base. Lestening to the game, I could tell that the Lookouts defence was really strong, too. I think that will be one of thier strong points this season. I also don't think that this is going to be a power hitting team either. Luis and I talke about this the other night. All of the guys that are on the team this year are more of the line-drive kind of hitters. Not 25 or 30 home run kind of hitters, thought they will be hitting some of those, too. But I think that the team will be strong this year.

The lookouts play the Montgomery biscuits again tonight with a start time of 8:05pm.

It's Baseball Time, Baby!

Tomorrow night is the first game of the 2008 season. The Montgomery Biscuits host the Chattanooga Lookouts at 8:05pm. The bus will leave AT&T Field at 10am and head to Montgomery, Alabama. The game will be broadcasted on the Internet if anyone is interested in listening. I'm for sure gonna tune in!! I can't wait! Click HERE to listen to the internet broadcast.

The Boys Are Back In Town!!!

Finally! After 622 miles, 4 suitcases, 3 large bins, 8 blankets, 5 pillows, 3 bathroom stops, 1 1/2 tanks of gas, a vacuum cleaner and 2 Easter baskets, and a ton of other miscellaneous items, we are back in Chattanooga!!
We got up about 7am yesterday morning and packed up the SUV and believe me when I say PACKED! There was no room to spare. We got on the highway and headed north by 8:30am. A little later than what we wanted, but still not bad.
We got to the hotel about 8:30pm. When we got to the room, we found in our room a gift basket full of goodies from some close friends of ours here in Chattanooga. Inside was all kinds of breakfeast goodies, drinks, lunch goodies, popcorn, muffins and coloring books for the girls. It was a total surprise. But, it was a wonderful surprise. It made the stress of the day and the month just kinda dissapear out the window. Thanks guys for the gift. You'll never know what it ment for us that you did that! May God bless you for your kindness!
Today was report day for The Lookouts. They have a club meeting then a short practice after that. Then after that, we have been invited for dinner at our friends house. Tomorrow is an exhibition game against a local college here in Chattanooga. Then the season starts the 3rd.
